Identifying Prepositions
The preposition connects nouns to other nouns or nouns to pronouns. They also provide details in a sentence. Prepositions do not stand alone in a sentence. There is usually an object after a preposition. In the Turtle Diary game, children read short but fun sentences that contain obvious prepositions. Using a keyboard the child submits the identified preposition and receives immediate feedback. Prepositions are commonly used in everyday writing and speaking. Children who have a good understanding of prepositions have a more complete skill set in language skills. Children with strong language arts skills are more accomplished readers, writers and speakers.
